Quick Studio Update
This post is going to be a mini update since I am away for a few days after this evening but there’s been a lot going on. There will be fuller and more considered blog posts to follow this one but I’m quite excited about a few developments over the last few days.
First of all, the AI bubble is finally in a position where I am happy with the lighting and ready to hard wire it, so as soon as I get a perf board I’ll get that sorted. I’m going to then look at making mono coloured mini ones inspired by this for the old Etsy shop! I will also look at making more of these on commission if people desire as I really enjoyed the process but finally we’re there.
You may notice, if you’ve been following along with the story (first chapter HERE if you’re interested) then you’ll note I originally had a green LED but I have changed it to blue for practical reasons but I am really pleased with how it looks and it still fits the theme since most of these AI companies tend to employ blue somewhere in their very similar signatures. Once again the vision has evolved and is telling its own story separate from from original thoughts which is one of the most fascinating wonderful things about how conceptual art develops.
Second thing I’ve had going on is that I’ve made a smaller sculpture inspired by my blue liverbird (liminal identity 1) that I talk about HERE so this is also an accessible piece that I can make available for purchase too.
Thirdly, I am almost finished with the idea that started it all as far as the epoxy exploration goes, I’m excited to give this one the treatment it deserves in what I think is going to possibly be two blogs, maybe, I haven’t decided, you might get bored. I am not going to show any pictures yet but the piece is called ‘Resilience/Drück’ and it is a very personal autobiographical piece that means a lot to put out there.
The wonderful thing about this piece is that this also did not turn out exactly how I had planned but the result really resonated with me and was consistent with my experience. So I am going to keep it and I think I will try and make the more clinical version at a later date as both of these pieces tell different stories. The work in its current iteration is probaly more fitting with my current experience. I would definitely call that a wonderful piece of serendipity.
So, that’s what we’ve got going on. There is also madness too – I made a fancy dress outfit this week which took up quite a lot of time, I love fancy dress but right now I am covered in glitter.
Next week all will be revealed on Resilience and I can’t wait. Until then – have fun!
