Commission Terms
Artist: Alison White, trading as Art Me Anything
Manchester, UK
1. Overview
These terms outline how I handle commissioned artwork, including the process, pricing, timelines, and usage rights. They’re here to make everything clear and fair for both of us before any work begins.
2. Commission Process
- To enquire about a commission, please contact me with a brief description of what you’re looking for, including size, materials, colour preferences, and any reference images. You are not required to include everything in an initial email — we can start with a simple idea to check viability.
- I’ll review your request and confirm whether the project is suitable for my practice.
- I may request further information such as reference images or material preferences after initial contact.
- Once we agree on the direction, I’ll provide a quote and an estimated timeline.
- Work begins only after the deposit is received.
- I will provide updates at relevant stages once work has commenced.
3. Pricing and Quotes
- Pricing is based on size, materials, complexity, and the time required.
- All quotes are provided in GBP (£).
- Clients outside the UK are responsible for any currency conversion fees charged by their bank or payment provider.
- Shipping is included in the quoted price based on current courier rates.
- If shipping costs (including tariffs or duties, where these have been agreed as part of the quote) change by more than 10% between the agreement date and completion, the shipping portion of the quote may be adjusted accordingly.
- Any changes will be communicated before final payment
- Quotes are valid for 14 days.
4. Payment Terms
- A 50% non‑refundable deposit is required to secure your commission and cover materials.
- The remaining 50% is due upon completion, before shipping or collection.
- Payments can be made via bank transfer, PayPal, Wise, or Revolut.
- Refunds are not available once work has begun, as each piece is custom‑made.
5. Timeline
- Most commissions take 1–4 weeks from receipt of deposit funds, depending on size, complexity, materials required, and my current workload.
- I’ll give you an estimated completion date at the start of the project.
- Delays caused by material availability, drying/curing times (for epoxy or clay), or shipping issues will be communicated promptly.
6. Revisions
- Two rounds of minor revisions are included (e.g., small adjustments to colour balance or detail).
- Major changes to the concept after work has begun may incur an additional fee or require a new commission agreement.
7. Shipping and Delivery
- UK, Europe, and US shipping is available.
- All pieces are packaged securely to protect them in transit.
- Shipping costs are agreed as part of the quote as stated in Clause 3.
- International clients are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes.
- I am not liable for delays caused by postal services or customs processing.
8. Usage Rights
- I retain full copyright to all commissioned artwork, including the right to photograph, publish, and exhibit the work.
- The client receives the physical artwork and may display it privately.
- The artwork may not be reproduced, sold as prints, used commercially, or altered without written permission.
9. Exhibitions and Artist Access
- I retain the right to photograph the commissioned artwork and include it in my portfolio, website, social media, and promotional materials.
- If the artwork is requested for inclusion in an exhibition, I may contact you to request a temporary loan of the piece.
- Any loan for exhibition purposes will be arranged with reasonable notice and at no cost to you.
- I will cover all exhibition‑related transport and insurance during the loan period.
- You are under no obligation to loan the artwork, but cooperation is appreciated where possible.
10. Cancellations
- If you cancel before work begins, your deposit is still non‑refundable.
- If I need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, your deposit will be refunded in full.
- If you become unresponsive for 30 days during the process, the commission may be considered cancelled and the deposit retained.
11. Agreement to Terms
By paying the deposit, the client confirms they have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
