I’m Ali, an artist based in Manchester, UK.
My practice moves between materials. After several years focused on fabric sculpture, I’m now exploring epoxy, clay, and a return to the ink work that I have done in the past.
This website is both a portfolio and a record of that exploration — a place to document work as it develops.
I am not an artist that paints pretty pictures or gains mastery at one medium. I explore, experiment and improvise as this is my nature. Everything is imperfect and jagged and improvisational. Improvisation tends to be my number one super power and I am starting to reflect it in the breadth of work that I do and the different approaches I take. My life has never gone to plan and ended up in the best way, so why should the art I make be formulaic and perfect, that’s not how my life, or my mind works.
